How to Craft a Stress-Less Life
Most high-achieving women who are at the point of burnout can’t even imagine a life without stress. For too many, problems with work, relationships and your overflowing to-do list seem insurmountable. It just all feels out of your control!
But I want you to know something: you actually have a lot more control over stress than you imagine (or give yourself credit for).
Can your life be 100% stress-free? I’m going to be honest here: probably not. BUT there is a lot you can do to mitigate stress and its impact on your health and happiness. And learning and applying these stress mitigation strategies in your life is a BIG part of any burnout recovery process.
Not all stress is felt the same
Do you know someone who always seems to have their act together? Always happy and glowing, nothing fazing them?
I can think of a couple people like that in my life. Always seeming content and kind. The people I’m thinking of were yoga teachers. (Coincidence? I think not).
Let me pose this: do you think that yoga teachers have problems? Do they have a packed schedule? Do they have to make tough decisions? Are the conditions of their life more difficult than yours?
Maybe. Or…. maybe not.
The fact is, we are all exposed to people, timelines, and situations that are less than ideal. But some of us have an easier time handling those people, timelines and situations. We don’t all feel the same degree of stress in our mind or body.
If that’s true, then can you become one of those happy and carefree yoga-teacher types (instead of an overwhelmed, stressed-out mess)?
And can you become less stressed without also becoming a yoga teacher? YES! Of course. Whatever your current circumstances, you absolutely can have a less-stressful life where you are not consumed by overwhelm and anxiety. It’s all about learning new ways of processing stress and regulating your nervous system.
